They are going to kill Troy Davis on September 21st, 2011.
Troy Davis was convicted in 1991 of murdering a police officer. He has been on death row since 1991 and there is doubt about his guilt.
The conviction was based on witness testimony, and seven of the nine witnesses said they were pressured into testifying against Troy Davis. They changed their testimony. One of the remaining two witnesses has been implicated as the real killer.
„After a couple of hours the detectives yelling at me and threatening me, I finally broke down and told them what they wanted to hear.“
There was any physical evidence linking Troy Davis to the crime. There was never a murder weapon.
In the state of Georgia, the Board of Pardons & Paroles will hold a final clemency hearing. This is a final chance to prevent Troy Davis from being executed.
